A few months ago we drastically reduced the amount of sugar that is used in our home. My youngest started a new medication. A side effect of it is increased appetite and instead of eating more she started drinking more..as in constant drinking. I limited her milk because of milk induced anemia, limited her fruit juice because of other medical conditions and was left with few options of drinks besides water. She started to replace meals with juice. She was drinking a gallon of juice a day and not eating any food. I'm sure you can see the issue. Her doctor believed that she was filling up on sugar so we stopped all sugar and started using an artificial sweetener. I was thrilled when her appetite returned! The only problem was that I am not a huge fan of artificial sweetener, at least not the amount that she was wanting per day.
We received a sample of the Morning Pep Xylitol recently. I was worried at first that she would not like the taste of this product but I was pleasantly surprised. I have used this in drinks and baking and I can not even taste a difference. It has been a great addition to my kitchen..we have been able to continue having the same foods and drinks without losing any flavor while using a sweetener that is natural and has less calories. It has been a win win situation.
