Glow Stick Bracelets - Amazon 100 $7.99 |
I recently received the opportunity to review the Super Bright Longest Lasting Glow Stick Bracelets sold by Super Bright. I was so excited and knew that I was going to have a ton of cool plans for them by the time they got here. Well, I did...and then my kids informed me that I am "lame". I totally held back the urge to look at them and say bite me, since saying that to your kids is frowned upon. Instead I gave them each a handful of glow sticks and dared them to come up with ideas that were better than mine. Well, I'm not so sure that their ideas were all that much better but they sure did keep them occupied for a while. They took the glow sticks out back and proceeded to play a game of night tag. They did actually have a pretty good idea with this. They made a perimeter with the glow sticks and then placed a few in random locations inside of the playing area. The glow stick are very bright. They lit up the area nicely and they were able to see good enough to prevent any injuries and were able to see just enough to catch a glimpse of the person running. Next they decided that they would include the animals so they made collars for each of the dogs out of glow bracelets and chased them through the field for a while. It was actually really cute. You could see a little circle glowing and floating across the yard. I tried to video it but it wouldn't show up on camera :( After that they just spent the next hour running around with the glow sticks. This probably doesn't seem like a big deal to most, but for my kids to be outside doing anything..that's a big deal. They tend to avoid going outside during the summer when it's 125 degrees at midnight. Yes, October is still summer here. They talked about how much fun they had for the entire weekend. The sticks were still glowing when they eventually came in and that was well over an hour later. I looked outside after a few hours and could still see them glowing. I have never purchased glow sticks that lasted even half as long as these.
A little glow stick fun in the dark :) |
Like most moms, I didn't give them the entire tube because I knew they would use them all within 10 minutes and then come in to beg for more. We are going to a gathering Friday night and there will be several kids and a wiener roast. I secretly hid a stash of them for that night. I mean the tube has 100 in it! Way more than enough for even 2 or 3 glow filled nights. I can't wait to see all of the fun games they come up with together. I'm sure that a large group of children of all ages will have some very creative ideas on how to use glow sticks.
With Halloween coming up very quickly, I am hoping that I can manage to stash a few for decorating on Halloween. Glow sticks are just an awesome item to have around the house at all times. There are so many ways to use them. In the past we have made tents and told spooky stories by the light of the glow sticks. They really do turn the most boring of situations into a memorable night. I have found some awesome ideas for decorating with glow sticks. Here are a few of the ones I am hoping to do for Halloween night.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles from watermelons or jack o lanterns from pumpkins |
Glow sticks inside of rubber gloves placed inside a pool or pond |
My Favorite! Glow sticks placed inside water balloons that are placed inside stocking and hung from trees |
Glowing pumpkins. Drill holes in pumpkins and insert glow sticks
|
I hope that I am able to hide enough glow sticks from the kids to complete at least one of these projects. I absolutely love the water balloons hanging from the trees. For Halloween this would look very spooky with green glow sticks. This could even be done with white glow stick to create and elegant feel for a wedding or prom. Add some sparkly jewels to the stockings so that the light reflects and it resembles big rain drops. I think that these glow sticks will work great for these projects because they last for hours. I have never purchased glow sticks before that lasted more than an hour or so. With these glow sticks, I can activate them once it gets dark and I know that they will last through the entire night. Who would have thought that glow sticks could be so useful?! These are definitely not just for the kids to play with. I have found so many amazing ways to use glow sticks. These glow stick bracelets are currently available on Amazon, priced at $7.99 for 100. At that price I may just give the kids the rest of this tube and order another one for my projects.
