We are a family that is cursed with allergies.  Allergies then turn to sinus infections.  It's a year round battle.  Winter rolls around and between sinus infections we are fighting colds and praying that the flu, strep and RSV doesn't find it's way into our home.  I am constantly spraying something with Lysol, running humidifiers, spraying saline solution, shoving vitamin C in someone..I am constantly fighting to keep everyone healthy.  I like to do it with the least amount of drugs possible.  I am not opposed to drugs, I just like to use the least amount possible.

I was recently presented with the opportunity to try and review Soothie Suckers Herbal Ice Pops.  Initially, I thought that they were something similar to Pedialyte pops.  They are actually nothing like them.  Soothie Suckers come in two varieties.  They offer immune support and nasal support.  The suckers can be frozen and eaten as a frozen pop or chilled and enjoyed as a liquid.  Each box contains 8 - 1oz. serving pouches.  Each pouch contains organic or wild crafted herbal extracts along with all natural fruit flavors.  There are no artificial flavors, high fructose corn syrup or alcohol in either of their products.

The immune support pops contain 500 mg of proprietary herbal extract blend.  A few of the herbs included in the immune support blend are Echinacea Purpurea, Astragalus Root, Pau d' Arco (Taheebo), Mullein and Thyme.  These herbs have been shown throughout history to support immune health.

The nasal support pops contain 500 mg of proprietary herbal extract blend also. A few of the herbs included in the nasal support blend are Goldenseal, Pleurisy Root, Pau d' Arco (Taheebo), Astragalus Root and Echinacea purpurea syn E. angustifolia, Purple Cone Flower.  These herbs have also been shown to support overall health, strengthen the immune system and boost metabolism.

We are now starting to get into prime flu season.  I have been giving my daughter one of the nasal support pops every night before bed.  She has actually enjoyed them.  She thinks they are just regular popsicles which leads me to believe that the taste is similar to that of a real fruit popsicle.  The kids have been out of school for the past week for Thanksgiving break so we haven't been exposed to as many germs as we normally are.  I am very hopeful that adding this to our preventative measures will help us make it through the winter without any major illnesses.  I am enjoying that for once I am able to get something healthy into the kids without a fight.
