Probiotics are fairly popular right now.  There are commercials during most shows featuring a pill or yogurt that contains some type of probiotic and a celebrity discussing how they suffer from irregularity.  Most of my probiotic knowledge came from those commercials and I assumed that probiotics were low dose laxatives or fiber supplements.

Once I was presented with the chance to review the Number One Nutrition Advanced Probiotic, I researched probiotics a little further. I know y'all love my rambling.  I am the type of person that can't jump right into the middle of something, I like to know all of the details. And then I share them with you guys :)

Probiotics are actually not fiber supplements and they are used to treat tons of medical conditions.  Probiotics are actually live bacteria.  I know, it sounds gross that you are taking a pill full of live bacteria but when you think about it your digestive system is full of bacteria, and that's a good thing.  Bacteria aid in the digestion of food and some believe they even aid the immune system.  The
"good" bacteria in probiotics can actually fight the "bad" bacteria.  Some believe that there is also an increase in autoimmune diseases in developed countries because our immune systems are not being challenged.  They believe that probiotics challenge our immune system in a healthy way.  There have been promising test results showing probiotics effective in treating many conditions including ulcerative colitis, IBS, Crohn's disease and many other conditions.

I have seen first hand some of the great benefits of probiotics.  There is always someone at my house on antibiotics.  We are a house full of allergy suffers and a sneeze one day is a sinus infection the next.  The kids normally go on 10 days of fairly strong antibiotics to knock them out.  We don't allow a Z-Pak in our house..they just don't cut it for us.  Since the kids have started taking probiotics while on antibiotics there is no more antibiotic induced upset tummy and Ains has not had anymore horrible diaper rashes (yeast infections).  I used to dread them having to take an antibiotic because the side effects made them feel worse than the infection.  That's no longer the case.

I just finished up 10 days of antibiotics for a sinus infection myself.  I was taking the Advanced Probiotics when I started them.  I didn't have any problems. No stomach ache or any side effects that I normally have.  I usually feel horrible the entire time that I am taking antibiotics and I didn't this time.  Since finishing the antibiotics I have continued taking the probiotics and I am feeling even better.  I have had tummy issues for years.  That is partly why my doctor suggested a gluten allergy.  I have a constant pain/pressure in my stomach and a general ugh feeling.  I can see an improvement in it.  I am very pleased with the results I have seen in just this short time of using this product.

I would recommend this product to anyone that is having any type of digestive issues.  It's also a wonderful product to have on hand in the event that you have to take an antibiotic.  If you are interested in purchasing this product you may do so by visiting their Amazon page here.
